1. On the Day of your Appointment
Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time. If you have not completed the requested forms online, please arrive 30 minutes before your appointment to complete the necessary paperwork. Bring your ID or driver’s license, current insurance card, and a form of payment to remain on file.
When relevant also bring:
Immunization records.
Medical evaluations and documents.
ER discharge summary.
hospital discharge summary.
Immunization records
Newborn discharge summary
Forms that need to be completed by your doctor, should be already filled with patient and family information prior to the appointment. Please visit our Forms link to review the forms you may need.
2. Walk-in and Well Visits
Walk-in visits are strictly for sick visits. Walk-in visits will not address medication refills and chronic illnesses that are stable. There may be a wait for a walk-in visit. This is because scheduled appointments will be given priority, including same-day appointments. We will try to limit the wait time to 40 minutes and less, unless the patient is triaged as needing sooner or immediate attention. Well visits and physicals will always need to be scheduled in advance as there is much preparation that goes into completing a well-visit, such as evaluating immunization status, medications, vision and hearing screens, and assessing growth charts. We have separate waiting areas for sick and well children.
3. Same-Day Appointments
Please call the office as early as possible after we open or go online to make a same-day appointment. By doing so, you will avoid the wait time that comes with a walk-in appointment.
4. How to Join a Tele-health Appointment
We offer telemedicine and online consultation for families and patients who cannot visit our office, and at the same time a direct physical examination is not needed as well.
5. Cancellation, late show and no-show policies
There is a $50 charge for cancellations less than 24 hours from appointment time, and for no-shows to appointments that were not cancelled or rescheduled. An appointment missed by one, is an appointment missed by two as someone else could have used that appointment. We will see patients who are no later than 10 minutes late. Patients arriving later than 10 minutes will be triaged for severity of complaints and be accommodated accordingly. It is best to call and let us know if you are going to be late.
6. Leaving Messages
Every effort will be made to respond to messages the same day.
Medication refills may take up to 2 business days.
When leaving messages, messages left after 4:00 pm will be returned the next business day.
In case of a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency center.
7. After-hours
For medical concerns after-hours, and on weekends and holidays, you can call our office to be transferred and triaged by a board-certified RN at Children’s Mercy Hospital. There is a fee for this service and we share the cost with you. The fees are assessed by Children’s Mercy Hospital and is passed on to our office.
